This person has made the transition from a completely unrelated internal role and taken on a new area of work with an initial framework in place and elevated the volunteering service to a completely new level. The success of this has been built on a collaborative approach, reaching out to divisions and building relations to create new opportunities for local residents to gain much needed work experience. Working together with others has enabled her to build a robust, compliant service which has sat central to a variety of widening participation projects. Alongside this project, she has supported the wider volunteering offer and supported the return of existing volunteers into the various services post covid with extremely limited resources
How has the nominee positively impacted you, the team, the organisation or the health service?
Working across over 25 departments she has placed volunteers across both sites as well as supported last minute initiatives including activities delivered by our Widening Participation and our engagement and inclusion colleagues. She recently mobilised volunteers to support the hot weather with delivery of refreshments across the trust to clinical colleagues as well as supported clinical areas when they have been faced with staffing difficulties
Additional Comments/Testimonials:
This person has a heightened attention to detail, a can do attitude and is an excellent project planner and is able to see the bigger picture by linking her responsibilities to other CHFT priorities. This includes setting up volunteers on E roster, training volunteers to deal with complaints and linking in her activity across our apprenticeship provision (helping to grow our own). This has helped to contribute to the meeting of wider targets and outcomes including volunteer numbers and apprentice starts. Her project has also been recognised nationally as "best practice" in promoting inclusive recruitment for volunteering
